Hi, it's nice to meet you!

I'm Amanda Tarkington-Taylor, and I'm glad you're here.

A fun fact about myself:

My favorite time of the year is the fall and winter and I love listening to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra during the winter holidays.

What can you expect as my client:

You can expect to feel safe, heard, and not judged as my client. You will be accepted and encouraged to make choices that best suits your needs. My goal is to help you conquer your challenges.

Who am I outside of therapy:

I am a person who loves her family; I have three children, a husband, and two dogs. I love the outdoors – camping, hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing sports, and BBQs. I am a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and I love watching games!

How did I become a therapist:

As a previous healthcare worker, I saw firsthand how mental health has taken a backseat to physical health. While physical health is important, it is only one piece of the larger picture of wellness. While I was running my mom’s daycare business, I noticed how relational dynamics in families, trauma, and addiction impact children. Those experiences lead me to seek out education to become a therapist to work with kids.

Ideal Clients

I graduated with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral (now called National) University in 2024.  I hold a Bachelor’s degree from George Fox University in health and administration.

I started out in the health field working in a hospital as a cardiac telemetry tech. After my first child was born, I left my job at the hospital to run my mom’s daycare business. It was there where I noticed how much I enjoy working with children and helping them grow.

My ideal clients are children, adolescents, and their families, however, I am pleased to work with anyone who is seeking help. Sometimes asking for help is one of the hardest things to do, and if you’ve made it this far, I want to work with you!
