My role at True Heart Therapy:
I supervise all of our clinicians! While I don’t directly see clients anymore, I get to work behind the scenes to provide support for our therapists to give our clients the best treatment possible.
It’s important for me to let you know I am an anti-racist and LGBTQIA2S+ ally and work to promote equity in everything I do. I also need you to know that I believe healing, transformation, and growth is possible for everyone.
What can you expect as my client or supervisee:
Deep understanding, advocacy, reframing, identification of patterns, exploring meaning, gentle challenges, respect that you know yourself best, and support discerning what is most helpful to you.
Who am I outside of therapy:
Oregonian born and raised in Idaho. I enjoyed good outdoor seating at restaurants and attending as many Blazer games as possible. On relaxing days, you can find me at home with my dog, Marshall (he’s the bestest boy) and soaking up the sun in my backyard hammock.
My clinical specialties:
I’ve been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2019. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from Lewis & Clark College, 2014.
I have significant training with gambling addiction and it’s impact on families. I hold the highest level of credentials to work with those suffering from both gambling and substance addiction (CGACII, CGACIII).
I’ve been supervising since 2020 – right before the pandemic started. I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
I’ve been in the Mental Health field providing services for the past 12 years. I have worked in community mental health at the county level for 8 years and the state level working on program development and policy for 2 years.
I have worked with clients of many backgrounds individually, as couples, families, and groups.
I started THT in 2021 and it’s been a blast creating an agency with a welcoming and inclusive culture for clinicians and clients.
I enjoy supervising interns – those seeing clients for the very first time and ready to apply theory to real life clients.
I love working with those seeking recovery from addiction (both substance and/or behavioral addictions) and their loved ones. I usually work with multiple people within a family unit individually and relationally depending on their needs.
Our office “manager”
Marshall is my almost five-year-old Border Collie/Australian Shepard/Cattle Dog mix. He is very slowly working on becoming a certified therapy dog. He’s a lover of keeping watch, smelling everything, and frisbees.
This cheeseball by his favorite backyard flowers.
Marshie is very smart and will learn anything if there are hot dogs involved. He has completed Puppy Agility coursework and training for his Novice Trick Dog title.
After a good game of fetch. “Boy, this is hard work!”
Marshall’s trick list is always growing, but currently he knows:
“I’m tuckered out, but I can’t wait to play again!”
Sometimes Marshall makes an appearance on camera. He may want to check in on you just to say you are doing a great job! He knows how hard it is to heal because he’s experienced that first hand as a rescue dog.
Marshall was a 4-month street puppy when he was found and brought to Oregon for adoption. He was an over-excited puppy with separation anxiety and terrified of being caged. Through the hard work of positive reinforcement, consistency, and belly rubs, Marshall is healing and safe to be a silly dog.
