In my view, counseling is most effective when perspective is balanced – I tend to ‘zoom in’ on specific thoughts and patterns in thinking while also taking the time to ‘zoom out’ and take a look at the bigger picture. Existentialism is one of the most important aspects of my personal and professional philosophy and is the foundation of the way that I understand and work with clients. Freedom, meaning, and purpose are core concepts that are unique to each individual and bound to come up for discussion in session.
Fun fact about myself:
For the past several years, I have made a point to spend a week camping in a different national park each spring or fall.
What can you expect as my client?
Clients working with me can expect to feel heard, seen, and supported – they can expect to treated with respect and transparency.
Who am I outside of therapy?
I can be found either outside camping, snowshoeing, and surfing or inside playing board and video games, and watching movies.
How did I become a therapist?
After years of being the person others in my life came to just to talk, I realized that I wanted to be able to continue to do that while also assessing, reflecting, and supporting people as a clinician – I like to think I’ve always had a knack for working with others on issues big and small, all while staying calm and cool in even crisis situations.
I have experience working with adults in both community mental health and private practice settings.
An adult individual who might be struggling with adjustment, loss, or trauma – someone who is contemplative, introspective, and open to developing awareness and insight.
